Salvation

Salvation is the occurrence and process of being saved (rescued) from the righteous judgment of God upon the sinner. Salvation means to be saved; from the spiritual consequence of sin, and from being eternally separated from God. Salvation is a gift from God; by His grace, through our faith, in Jesus Christ. Each person has a choice about whether to receive this forgiveness from God. Salvation is freely given to anyone who believes and follows Jesus Christ. Salvation is the way we come to experience God here on earth, and then live fully with Him after we die. God declares in the Bible that any person can be forgiven of their sin, be brought into fellowship with God, and be given eternal life, through repentance from sin with faith in God’s Son Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

Salvation from sin is available for everyone – including you.

o         Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.  [Romans 10:13]

o         “I [Jesus] tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”  [John 5:24]

o         Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him.  [John 3:36]

The only name, and the only way to salvation, is through the Messiah, God’s Son Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach).

o         Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name [Jesus Christ] under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.  [Acts 4:12]

o         Jesus answered, ”I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.”  [John 14:6]

o         And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”  [Matthew 3:17]

o         A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”  [Luke 9:35]

o         For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. [1 Corinthians 8:6]

o         Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. [John 17:3]

o         Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Philippians 2:5-11]

o         Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”  [Matthew 28:18]

All people have sinned against God, including you, and sin separates man from God.

o         This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.  [Romans 3:22-24]

o         If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  [1 John 1:8-9]

The penalty for your sin is death.

o         For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  [Romans 6:23]

o         Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. [Matthew 25:46]

o         If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire[Revelations 20:15]

Jesus Christ suffered death on the cross, was buried and rose again. Jesus Christ, who was without sin, gave his life to pay the penalty for the sins of mankind – including your sin.

o         But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us[Romans 5:8]

o         For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.  [1 Peter 3:18]

o         For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men.  [1 Timomthy 2:5-6]

o         God made him [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  [2 Corinthians 5:21]

Jesus Christ invites you to faith in Him, and repentance to Him, so that your sins will be forgiven. Through faith and repentance in Jesus Christ, you will be brought into fellowship with God and will be given eternal life, because God loves you.

o         For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. [John 3:16-18]

o         Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.  [Matthew 11:28-30]

o         Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  [John 1:12]

o         That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  [Romans 10:9-10]

o         Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.  [Acts 3:19]

You can pray the following as you come to God:

God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus is your Son, the Messiah, who died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the dead, to save me, so that I too might have eternal life.

God, I confess that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for the sins I have committed. I am guilty of having broken your law, and I deserve to be judged according to my sins. I don't want to go to hell, but I want to be free of my sin. I need your forgiveness.

God, I therefore now invite you Jesus Christ to come into my heart and to cleanse me from the guilt of my sins. Please forgive me. I welcome you Jesus into my life, and I receive you Jesus as my Saviour. Change me, purify me and fill me with your Holy Spirit. I want to follow you Jesus, and learn of your way. I give my life to You.

I thank you Jesus for saving me, accepting me, and for allowing me to be a child of God, even though I don't deserve it. I thank you for your gift to me of eternal life. I love you Jesus.

I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Salvation is your free gift from God - by His grace.

o         For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no-one can boast.  [Ephesians 2:8-9]
